How to make your own wall art

Frame old movie posters for a movie room. Pick up prints of your favorite movie posters and frame them to hang in your living room or movie room. The same can go for book covers, old magazines, record covers and just about anything else you can think of.

Visit your local craft store. Take a trip to the craft store and pick up patterned paper used for scrapbooking, frame them and hang them, and you have instant art for you walls.

Create a picture wall with family photos. Hang frames of all sizes on your wall to create a collage effect. This is a great way to personalize your space and add in your favorite pictures of family members and friends. Try all black and white photos for an added effect.

Mix mirrors. Arrange old mirrors in a unique way to add some flair to your wall. Try putting them in a small space to make it look bigger. Other common places for mirrors include entryways, landings on stairways, dining rooms and hallways.

Put your artistic abilities in action. If you are creatively gifted, buy a blank canvas and have at it! You can create custom pieces to match the look of your space. Even if art isn’t your thing, there are lots of patterns out there you can copy for a more contemporary look.
